Eyeonic was founded by Associate Professor Simon Skalicky FRANZCO, MPhil, MMed (Ophthal Sci), MBBS (Hons 1), PhD, who has also been able to attract other industry experts to its team.
A highly proficient, and meticulous coder with years of industry experience, Alex is currently well-versed in every aspect of the Eyeonic IT system and has the required skills and knowledge to continue providing Eyeonic with its technical needs.
He has a deep knowledge of technical aspects of the software in a way that aligns the development to ISO13485, ISO 14971 and IEC62304
Deus trained as an Ophthalmology resident in Algeria and served in the Doctors of the World France, Humanitarian mission there. Since 2017, he worked in Burundi at Kira Hospital and in the Burundi Eye Health University Hospital. He is the president of Lions Club, Brunswick branch Melbourne and of the Scientific Committee of the Burundi Ophthalmology Society.
Since moving to Melbourne in 2020 he has worked at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and is president of Lions Club Brunswick. Passionate about African eye health and glaucoma services, he believes Eyeonic will make a big impact for glaucoma in Africa and is working hard to use his African connections to implement it there.

His leadership experience includes building international sales channels, high-performing commercial teams, Leading Innovation teams and driving corporate value to success through strategic penetration of high-growth markets.
Dr Kate Taylor is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Oculo, an online platform to connect eye care professionals and their patients. Kate is a member of the Australian Digital Health Agency’s Clinical and Technical Advisory Committee. She was previously involved with the Board of the Mental Health Cooperative Research Centre in Australia, and internationally with the boards of Roll Back Malaria, Stop TB, and the GAVI Alliance.
Kate initially trained as an ophthalmologist, and also holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University as a Fulbright Scholar. She has worked in strategy, policy and advocacy with McKinsey & Company, the World Economic Forum’s Global Health Initiative, International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, and GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals.
Jan Wietjens is a versatile professional from Naarden, Netherlands. He serves as the Business Development Director at Luctor Medical and also holds roles as a Lecturer and Student Graduation Coach at the University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands. Jan has excelled as a Strategy Consultant at Action Medeor and Export Professional at Business Boost International. Prior to this, he held several managerial positions at Omron Healthcare Europe and TNT Express, showcasing his expertise in sales, supply chain, and corporate strategy in the EMEA region. Jan’s career also includes a stint as the General Manager at TDG and a Key Account Manager role at IBM.
